UCM Reșița on the energetic market in Kenya
The hydro power plant Tana in Kenya, will be fitted with four Francis vertical turbines, having a total capacity of about 25 MW.
UCM Resita company has in progress during this period a contract with FARAB Intl. Teheran, regarding the supply of hydro generating equipments for the new hydro power plant Tana, for KenGen (Kenya Electricity Generating Company Ltd.), located 80 km distance from Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
The new HEPP will be fitted with four Francis vertical turbines, consisting of turbines, regulators, generators, excitation systems, butterfly valves with auxiliaries and ancillary equipments for Maragua and Merila, the total installed capacity will be 25 MW.
UCM Resita provided the model tests, constructive and technological engineering, manufacturing of the equipments, for the hydro units of the two sections of the TANA HEPP.
Design was performed by Hydro Engineering, one of the UCM group companies. Model tests were conducted at TURBOINSTITUT Ljubljana.
The experts of UCM Resita will provide technical assistance at assembly and will perform the tests at putting into operation of the Tana HEPP.
The deliveries of the hydro power equipments started on December 2008 with the embedded parts (draft tubes, spiral cases), last delivery being estimated to be performed at the end of 2009.
Until now, at the new HEPP Tana, all embedded parts have been assembled and starting with September it began the erection of turbines at section Maragua, under supervision of UCM Resita representative, Tiberiu Isfan.
