Re-acknowledging the certifications held by U.C.M. Resita

During September 2004, the representatives of the Quality Management System certification authorities, LLOYD`S REGISTER QUALITY ASSURANCE and SIMTEX-OC, performed the first monitoring audit at U.C.M. Resita, according to the contracts, within two respectively three days. During the same month, the customer NPS Cernavoda unit no. 2 performed the yearly planned audit, intended to check the compliance with the quality assurance system in the nuclear field, this being a compulsory condition to continue the collaboration between the two companies. The corrective measures for the minor non-conformities noticed during the audit were mutually agreed upon. Thus, U.C.M. Resita obtained the re-acknowledging of its certifications, according to the reference standard SR EN ISO 9001:2001.

    

A possible customer, ALSTOM Power Hydro Turbine, also performed an audit regarding the implemented quality management system, at the beginning of this month. This audit was intended to study the possibilities of collaboration between our company and ALSTOM Power Hydro Turbine. During the final meeting of the audit, the representatives of this company concluded that U.C.M. Resita will be included on ALSTOM Power Hydro Turbine list of suppliers.

SC U.C.M. Resita has implemented a Quality Management System according to SR EN ISO 9001:2001, certified by the Quality Management System certification authorities, LLOYD`S REGISTER QUALITY ASSURANCE and SIMTEX-OC Bucharest, and the quality assurance system in the nuclear field is according to CAN 3-Z29.3-85.

At the beginning of October an audit performed by LLOYD`S REGISTER OF SHIPPING took place at U.C.M. Resita. Its purpose was to obtain an extension of the validity time for the certificates of high application held by the company:

• Certificate no. MD00/1604/0002/2 for the manufacture of: iron, steel, alloyed steel cast parts (up to 30 tons);
• Certificate no. MD00/1604/0002/3 for the manufacture of carbon steel and alloyed steel forged parts (up to 6,5 tons);
• Certificate no. MD00/1604/0002/5 for the manufacture of nodular cast iron (up to 5 tons), grey cast iron (up to 30 tons).

As a result of this audit, the company obtained the extension of the validity time for the above mentioned certificates.
