From Scraps to State of the Art Equipment
Since June this year, U.C.M. Resita has initiated a campaign for collecting and selling the existent scrap, especially the iron scrap. This resulted mainly from the units and equipment that were placed out of order and annulled, stock of materials as well as from idle inventories. For example - the items intended for types of equipment no longer in manufacture, or obsolete equipment, some of them even from the last century.
These materials are reviewed by the workshops in charge with their management. These workshops recommend the most profitable way of using them. Only those that can no longer be used by U.C.M. Resita (not even for melting) or sold under a different form are sold as scrap iron. Given these circumstances, the company has no benefit in keeping them as they only involve additional costs for their storage. The suggestions received from the workshops are analyzed and approved based on the regulations in force. The value of all units and equipment sold was amortized.
The resulted amount is included in the U.C.M. Resita investment found, being used for improving the working conditions - repair and modernization of roofs, sanitary groups, heating units, water and sewage system, also for upgrading technical equipment and units.
The total value of the investments for the current year exceeds 3.6 mil €, including the restoration of the workshop in area A, where a modern welding-line will be placed. This restoration costs about 200,000 Euro, without the value of the technological line.
