Projects for 2005

During October this year a series of projects initiated in the past months will be concluded by contracts, thus, shaping the production of the company for 2005.

Strejesti Project implies repairs and upgrading works at the HEPP hydro unit Strejesti no.1. The works consist in dismantling the group, rehabilitate its components or replace them (the stator will be replaced). The contract will be signed within the first week of October and the project will last for about 13 months, out of which two months are required for designing. For the same Customer, Sucursala Hidroelectrica Slatina, U.C.M. Resita is executing presently a similar work for the HEPP hydro unit Strejesti no.2, which will be finalized at the end of this month.

The contract for the Tismana Project will be signed within the first decade of October 2004. This project aims to rehabilitate and redesign the hydro unit Tismana no.2, in order to generate the rated power of the initial project. Among others, will be rehabilitated the generator, the turbine, the valve and the installations. The project is due to be completed in 15 months. The Beneficiary, Sucursala Hidroenergetica Tg. Jiu, is also a traditional Customer of our company, the hydropower unit Tismana no. 1 was rehabilitated by U.C.M. Resita, and it was put into service in 2003.

In the first decade of October, another contract will be signed with Sucursala Hidroenergetica Rm. Valcea for two hydropower units, one for Babeni and the other one for Rm. Valcea.

Probably, at this moment the most important project in progress is Bumbesti - Livezeni. It is important not only for the high value of the contract but also for the fact that it represents the first investment in the Romanian field of hydropower industry after 1989. It will be developed within three years, and U.C.M. Resita will deliver for his project six hydropower units - three at Bumbesti, three at Dumitra and one micro hydropower unit at Livezeni.

In order to increase the export, several measures have been initiated aiming to help U.C.M. Resita in penetrating the Iranian hydropower market. In September 11, 2004, the representatives of U.C.M. Resita visited two Iranian companies acting in this field, Azarab Iran and Farab Iran. The discussions carried both on technical and commercial terms, had as main purpose the hydropower stations of Piran, Dez and Seymareh.
