Design Department for electric machines and automation systems
Field of activity
In this department there were designed during years, generators and motors of different output, excitation and automation systems, of a high quality degree, custom designed, thing that gives value both to the generators performed in U.C.M. Resita and to the engineers and engineering team of this department.
These generators, motors, excitation and automation systems were performed both for domestic customers, such as Iron Gates I and II, Lotru, Râul Mare reteyat, Gâlceag, Tismana, Râmnicu Vâlcea, Remeti, etc., and for external customers, namely Turkey, India, Columbia, etc.
Taking in view to increase the performances of the hydropower gen. sets, we are using modern design conceptions, complex calculus programs in order to diminish loss and to increase the efficiency, new materials and technologies to perform the components.
Also, in this department are performed rehabilitation of hydropower gen. sets, electric motors, excitation and automation systems. As the designed and manufactured hydropower Gen. sets, indented for power supply, have a service life of about 30 years in the power stations, and after this period they require to be subjected to rehabilitation.
The automation concept developed by U.C.M. Resita for the hydropower stations is a SCADA type system performed by PLCs that perform:
- control and monitoring of hydropower units and of their auxiliary equipment
- control and monitoring of hydropower units and of the auxiliary equipment from the power station (including its afferent facilities)
- monitoring of all protections
- measurement of the electric, hydro-mechanic, hydraulic and energetic parameters
- measurement of temperature, vibration, shape of the rotor and stator and of the hydro generator air gap
- diagnosis of the condition of the units and their equipment
- communication with the controller
